Wednesday, April 16, 2014: A late spring

Yesterday was the last day of the tax season, and as such was the last day I had to haul my sorry butt out of bed at the crack of dawn to catch the 6:38 train to my temporary gig as a tax preparer.
In addition to it being the last day of the tax season, yesterday was officially the 28th day of Spring 2014 though you wouldn't know it from spending any time in my neck of the woods. Yesterday morning's temperature had dropped below freezing, a fresh layer of snow had fallen overnight, and the trees were still barren of new greenery.
Indeed, other than decorations for Easter, there was little indication that Spring has yet sprung . . .
. . . except perhaps, for the first new shoots finally pushing up through the snow.
